ICTs
ICTs, or Information and Communication Technologies, it refers to all the devices, made out of networking components, applications and systems that allows the users to communicate and interact with each other through the digital world. Yo can find ICTs everywhere you go: on business, school, bank, or even on a sport event. I will give some examples:
BUSINESS:
ICTs is obviously used in business, because their devices are used to process information making it more easier to project their ideas and transmit the project that the business is offering. Their benefits are:
- ICT aids decision making, it means knowledge is power so they can make more informed and professional decisions.
- ICT helps employees and managers have information easier by via business letters, reports, etc.
- ICT can help keep updated records on employees, competitors and customers.
- ICT offers and allows people all over the world to keep in touch, it doesn’t matter the location or time zone.
Some software tool that are commonly used are: Accounting Software, Backup and Recovery, Blogging Tool, Calendar, Collaboration, Collaboration/Office Suite, and CRM.
EDUCATION:
ICTs is obviously involved in education, because many schools use diverse devices to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and manage information. ICTs bring a lot of benefits to the education, because the student is able to lead to a higher order thinking skills, that provide creative and individualized options to the student, so they can express their understandings, this is a very important point, because like that the students use the tools that they often use in everyday life and that makes them feel more comfortable. Some applications that are used for education are: Edmodo, BrainPOP UK Featured Movie, Socrative Student, Edublogs, Ever note, Google Drive, Dropbox, Class Dojo, etc. By using these applications the student is able to: do investigations, quizzes, familiarize with the subjects, do interactive activities, communicate, interact, inform, etc.
ICTs is very useful in education, because it provides a lot of benefits for the student, but unfortunately there are also some disadvantages of ICTs in education, because student could use their devices for another different use that could affect them.
BANK:
ITCs are also present in the banks, because the banks use mainframe computers to maintain their customer accounts by dealing with transactions generated as a result of retirements and deposits. An example of ICTs in bank is ATM, or Automated Teller Machine that helps the user with: retire cash, check an account balance, order a statement and a cheque book; it’s advantages are: it can keep their operating costs down, customers can always have access to their accounts seven days a week, and you don’t need to carry large amounts of cash, it means that it is readily available. Some software and applications that are commonly used in banks: Cleartouch, Celeriti, Core Banking, Kastle, Cloud Banking, Fusion Banking, Bank Core, FinnOne Neo, Sopra Banking Platform, Avaloq Banking Suite, iCore360, SIT Portfolio Plus, etc.
SPORT EVENTS:
ICT is very useful in sports, because ICTs help them make decisions with video recording when there is a play that is p hard to see normally, and helps them make the results more accurate and well-organized. Also, ICTs provides evidence for the officials so they will not receive complaints or abuse from the opposition, this is usually called “Hawk eye”.
Sometimes they use a computer to assess sports injuries, detect false starts, or even they use these devices for the advertisement of sporting events. ICTs are also used to design floors. Use of sensors to detect when a ball has passed the goalposts. To identify the bar code, tickets, and smart card chip store. Use of the TV to provide interactive features when watching sport. Hardware: iPad with WiFi, Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit, iPad Dock connector to VDGA Adaptor. Software: iMovies, iTunes. Apps: Safari, You Tube, Numbers, Keynote, iReferee HD.
OPINION:
ICTs are everywhere, and I think that we depend on the technology, and with the pass of time the technology will replace us, and then we will no be useful. We depend a lot on the technology, that now we don’t a lot of effort when we are doing a job, or a work, the technology make our lives more easier, and the most of the times it is very useful, but we don’t know how to live without ICTs devices.
